WASHINGTON / RankWire.AI / – Next week, the U.S. Treasury Department plans to conduct three debt issuance events totaling $119 billion, involving notes and bonds. The schedule kicks off on Oct. 6 with the sale of $58 billion in three-year notes. On Oct. 7, Treasury will auction $39 billion of 10-year notes. The sequence concludes on Oct. 8 with a $22 billion offering of 30-year bonds. These offerings align with Treasury’s regular financing timetable and the sizes outlined in its latest quarterly refunding schedule.

The newly issued three-year note matures on Oct. 15, 2029. For the 10-year note, Treasury will reopen an existing 4.625% security that matures on Aug. 15, 2036. The 30-year bond reopening involves a security with a 5.125% coupon maturing on Aug. 15, 2056. Reopening an existing security increases the total amount outstanding while maintaining its original coupon rate and maturity date. Investors may submit either competitive or noncompetitive bids through Treasury’s standard auction process.
All three securities will settle on Oct. 15, according to the schedule published by the U.S. Treasury Department. In competitive bidding, investors specify the yield they are willing to accept. Noncompetitive bidders agree to accept the yield determined during the auction. Treasury releases the final auction results, including the high yield, accepted bids, and allotment details, after each sale concludes. These securities pay fixed interest and are a key part of the federal marketable debt.
Treasury schedules three consecutive debt sales
The October auctions follow the September sales of the same 10-year and 30-year securities. On September 9, Treasury sold $39 billion of the 10-year note, which yielded 4.834% and attracted about $105.8 billion in bids, resulting in a bid-to-cover ratio of 2.71. This security has a 4.625% coupon and matures in August 2036. The upcoming reopening will add another $39 billion of that note to the existing amount outstanding.
On September 10, Treasury sold $22 billion of the 30-year bond, which produced a high yield of 5.308%. Investors submitted bids totaling approximately $57.5 billion, resulting in a bid-to-cover ratio of 2.61. The bond carries a 5.125% coupon and matures in August 2056. The October auction will add an additional $22 billion of this security. Final yield, price, and demand data will be published after the auction closes on Thursday.
Offer sizes align with October borrowing plan
These auctions are part of a broader borrowing strategy for the last quarter of 2026. The Treasury projected $628 billion of net marketable borrowing for October through December, based on an assumed year-end cash balance of $850 billion. The federal government raises marketable debt through regular sales of bills, notes, bonds, and other securities. The Treasury adjusts issuance across maturities via its established financing process and publishes auction schedules and borrowing estimates for investors.
The total of $119 billion matches the amounts listed in Treasury’s August financing plan for October. This schedule called for $58 billion of three-year notes, $39 billion of 10-year notes, and $22 billion of 30-year bonds. The auction of the three-year note will begin the sequence on Tuesday, followed by the 10-year sale on Wednesday and the 30-year sale on Thursday. Official results, including pricing, yield, and demand figures, will be released after each auction, providing insight into next week’s three U.S. government debt offerings.
